Welcome to the website for the Aqurate project

Development of this project has continued with the MathAssess project. See the Mathqurate project here at Kingston.

The main objective for Aqurate is the development of a multi-platform, open source authoring tool for QTI2.1 content. This has been achieved: the latest binary release is available here, and the source code is available here. The project documentation can be found here, while the source code and other technical documentation is stored on at the development site. This is a JISC funded project.

For users

The tool is now ready for use. All that is needed is an unzip, and a double-click. It can create, load and save seven of the core QTI 2 question types. (Items are loaded and saved individually as xml files, with accompanying images). Questions can be previewed in a normal browser to show the author how the question is presented. The tool runs on windows, linux and Mac platforms (java JRE 1.5 or later is required).

For developers

The Aqurate tool is written in java. JDK 1.5 is used to provide compatibility with Mac platform.

Please notice that these packages are distributed under the New BSD license.

Several third-party libraries included in AQURATE software are released under different licenses: LGPL, Apache Software and JWSDP.

Immediate Objectives

The next steps for the project are as follows: - Save and Load using IMS content packages (rather than xml files) - Allow items with multiple interactions - The ability to preview a sequence of questions.
